Hello former Bobcats, fans and parents!
This weekend is Alumni/Homecoming Weekend at Bates! Come on back and support all of your fellow Bobcats. The field hockey team plays at 2 p.m. on the Astroturf field next to John Bertram Hall. This is a big weekend for the field hockey Bobcats as they look to take down the #10-ranked team in the country, the Trinity College Bantams. We would love to see our alums on the sidelines cheering on the 2009 team.
Last year, we held an alumni field hockey game. We had alumni representing the past three decades. The game started off with typical Bobcat-like intensity, but after a couple minutes most players were sufficiently winded and it became a fun, spirited, 7v7 pick-up game. We are once again holding an alumni game on Saturday at 11 a.m. on the turf. I have already heard from a number of alums who are planning on being there so the more the merrier!
Also, there is a Friends of Bates Athletics reception after the football game at 5 p.m. in the fireplace lounge of New Commons (adjacent to the football field). Stop by for some food, drink and good company.
Finally, please look out for our Bates Field Hockey newsletter, which is being sent out next week. The newsletter features an introduction to the 2009 team and a recap of our trip to Argentina this summer.
