Beaton named to NFHCA all-region field hockey team
Lyndsay Beaton '12 scored a team-high eight goals for Bates in 2010.
LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College junior forward Lyndsay Beaton (West Newbury, Mass.) was included on the 2010 Longstreth/FHCA Division III All-Region Teams announced Thursday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, Beaton's first career postseason award. Beaton was named to the Second Team in the New England West Region.
Beaton led the Bobcats in scoring in 2010 with eight goals and one assist, and she scored her points in nine different games. Beaton tallied points against the likes of Division III powerhouses Amherst, Bowdoin, Middlebury and Tufts.
Beaton's eight goals ties as the highest single-season total by a Bates player in the past nine seasons, along with Abby Childs '09 in 2007 and Sema Kazarian '11 in 2008.
This is the second postseason honor garnered by a Bates player: goalkeeper Katie McEnroe '11 was selected to play in the 2010 NFHCA Division III Senior Game earlier this month.
